8in8 - Nighty Night (2011)
I actually think that this is the first album of 2011 I’ve posted about, but it’s definitely worth a listen. It was only unveiled this morning, and I’m cheap so I’ve only been listening to it on the website, but I find it really cool. This was the product of a planned eight-hour-long jam session (referred to while it was up on partyontheinternet.com) with Ben Folds, Amanda Palmer, Damian Kulash and Neil Gaiman.
The aim of the game was to make eight songs in eight hours, and they didn’t, they got to six in twelve hours, but weirdly enough, they’re good songs. They’re quirky and different and kind of kitsch. I like it, anyway. Listen to them online, or buy them if you have $1 to spare (at the moment, on my bank account, I really, really don’t).
