Green Day - Dookie (1994)

Believe it or not, when I was thirteen I was a huge Green Day fan. Well, a pre-American Idiot fan. This is an album that I basically grew up on, this and Warning as far as Green Day is concerned. Anyway, this album symbolises the peak of Green Day’s greatness before the decline.

It’s a good album, it has to be said. It’s angry and it’s dubbed punk rock and it’s aw shit what am I doing trying to review this I can’t review this I grew up with it and everyone’s heard it you know what it’s like and if you don’t you should click the below links to get it now.

Sonic Boom #1

electronic smooth mixes with guitar effects.

I’d already made this and it’s a really short playlist, only seven songs, but it’s one of my favourites.

Slash - Slash (2010)

This was a pretty long-awaited album (severe understatement) from GNR/Velvet Revolver guitarist, Slash. Slash has been busy having an awesome time with all the other projects, like Slash’s Snakepit and his (pretty much) endorsing of Les Paul guitars and Guitar Hero.

The album kicks off with one of its highlights, Ghost, followed by a very typical Ozzy track (which thankfully involved Ozzy, otherwise it would have just been a complete ripoff) - Crucify The Dead.

At this point, Fergie enters, which is when you’d expect things to go downhill. Surprisingly, they don’t. It’s cool to see her getting away from her comfort zone and contributing to the world of rock. There might be a future for her in that genre. A few more tracks, then there’s an instrumental (Watch This Dave) which is an excellent combo of…well, everything.

This was obviously one of the biggest releases of 2010, featuring a shitload of guest stars and the big man himself, and it’s a pretty brilliant album. One complaint - Adam Levine’s vocals really don’t fit in with the album at all (this features in Gotten), wouldn’t push that track too much.
